10-13-09

In attendance:  Marla Trox, Shadiin Garcia, Vicki Gotchall, Jeph Mitchell, Amy Floreen, Vicki Paden, Johnna Shotridge, Neshay Shivji, and Jeff Johnson.

Book Fair Nov 12-Nov 18. Vikki needs volunteers to work the fair and to do some at-home work like poster making.

Shadiin is going to set up an incentive program to get kids to read. It’s a 3 week booster.

Nominations of new PAC chairperson. Amanda DeGuc offered to take the chairperson position and co chair with her husband Jeremy via email.

Vicky nominated them in absentia. Unanimous decision and they are now the chairperson and co-chairperson.

Updating and maintaining the website: Shadiin volunteered David Nelson to set it up on a new server. We are going to send a mass email to get a volunteer to maintain the website.

Request form for WolfPAC funds:  Shadiin moved to approve the request form for  WolfPAC funds.

Amy asked to have an action taken, approved or denied and reason why  and possible resubmit clause added.

Jeff seconded it.

It passed unanimously.

Treasury report: popcorn sales are amazing.

JARAT envelopes needs to come in ASAP!

Jeff is going to write thank you notes for April Jackson and Myra Peterson for being rockstars and popping all the popcorn.

Popcorn machine: We are making so much more popcorn that Linda wants to buy another one. The thoughts are now that we are going to sell the little one and just buy a bigger one.  Marla asked Jeph to look into getting the machine because he is familiar with them and knows what he is looking for.

Escrip table Tuesday Nov. 17 at evening Book Fair. Shadiin and Amy and Marla will work this table.

Staff meeting: Marla went to announce our presence with authority. And it went well.

Fundraiser idea from Jeph and Linda: Linda is going to contact Eugene Coffee Co. and work with them to give us $1 for every coffee cup purchased.

Amanda and Jeremy are talking to Applebees.

Field Trip requests:  Neshay has fieldtrip requests for rafting and skate world for K-5. Alternate fieldtrips are hiking Spencers or a picnic at Madison Meadow.

Heather’s class wants to go to the Shedd.

Fieldtrip fund requests will be gathered, reviewed by the teaching teams, and hopefully JARAT funds will be available by then.

JARAT review: may be pushed to the spring instead of doing it in the fall.  Not enough buzz about it. No posters or school-wide announcements about it.  Fundraise in spring for the following fall?  Or set aside a portion for early fall trips the following year and continue with the fall fundraiser?  Tabled for further discussion later.

Green team is going to happen. The first meeting may be 10/21 or 10/28. We are waiting for facilities to put in irrigation for the new boxes that were built last month.  Jeph wants a meeting facilitated to figure out what is going to happen with the community garden area. There are conflicts of interest and different ideas of the “green concept”
