Mission Statement:

The new mission statement was discussed and the final proposal is:

The ATA WolfPAC is a parent-teacher organization committed to enriching the school community through:

  • Striving to improve the learning environment
  • Facilitating communication within the Arts and Technology Academy
  • Working with ATA staff in supporting families and building community

Janas will send this out in an online survey for a vote of all PAC members on Friday the 19th with votes due on July 1st.  If the majority of respondents okay the new mission statement, then it is adopted.

Financial Review:

Income of $182 from popcorn sales, interest and eScrip.  Expenditures of $52.49 were for postage for Boxtops and Labels, and the School Garden Project dues.  Our outflows for this fiscal year exceed our earnings by about $600.  For a detailed report, see the Treasurer, Marla Trox.

Popcorn Machine Use Agreement form:

Problems with use of the new popcorn machine have necessitated a Use Agreement Form.  It was presented for review with a few edits being made.  It was approved by vote.  Copies will be given to Linda Warner and presented to the staff in the fall.

Janas shared with the group the 1st grade yearbook that was created with financing from Site Council.  She proposed similar yearbooks for all grades next year.

Request for funds:

On behalf of the Arts Leadership Team, Janas requested $4500 be set aside from PAC funds for an additional 4 weeks of Artist in Residence for the 2009/2010 school year, grades K-6.  After a lengthy and lively discussion, these funds were granted.

Nominations and Elections:

Marla Trox was nominated as Treasurer, Shadiin Garcia as Secretary, Diana Nagai as Chairperson, and Amanda DeGuc as Co-chair.  All accepted their nomination and were voted into office. (Shadiin in absentia.)

Green Team:

Have a donated “Earth Tub” composter that will be delivered very soon.  It is very large and will hold about 250# of compost.  They are looking to fundraise next year by selling compost and holding “family nights” with food and live music for a small cover charge.

Site Council:

Also wrapping up year and having a change in officers.  Scott Miller is now a parent representative, the other parent rep is currently vacant.  Contact Jeff Johnson if you are interested.

Staff/Admin:

PAC requested 2009/10 Master Calendar – it can be found at:

http://schools.4j.lane.edu/academy/site/Calendar.html

The track is almost finished, and the turf field will reopen Monday.  The end of the year field trips are on June 25th.  There will be an awards assembly on June 30th.  Jeff will be away from the school (and hopefully for him, his email) from July 7th – 26th

Family School will move in after our school year ends on July 1st.  There is still some construction to finish.

Success stories:

Diana has created a website for the PAC!  It’s address is:  www.ATAWolfPAC.com  It is still under construction, but there is information there on our meetings, minutes, fundraising, and family fun opportunities.  More coming soon!

Marla ordered playground toys (soccer balls, jump ropes, four-square balls and a basketball) from Labels for Education with our label points we submitted last month.

And four large boxes of electronic recycling were sent off to Cartridges for Kids last week.

Our next meeting is August 27th, 2009 at 6:00 pm in the ATA library.  We will be preparing to kick off the new year with new focus and energy!
